Still no baby, but I still have 2 days to go until the due date. I felt a little extra wetness down there last night and this morning, so I mentioned it to the doctor at my appointment today. She tested some fluid to see if it was amniotic fluid and said it probably wasn't, but she had the nurse do an ultrasound to calculate the amount of fluid left, just to be sure. The fluid levels were normal, and we confirmed she is definitely a girl! The nurse guessed she is 7lbs 4-7oz and said I'm all baby (there isn't even much amniotic fluid along her back side). We saw the baby has some chunky thighs and cheeks and the nurse said she looks fully "baked" and ready to be born!
Neither the doctor nor the nurse fully examined my cervix because of the risk of infection if there is indeed a small leak in the amniotic sack. But the doctor did look at it and said it didn't look much more than 1cm dilated. However, the fluid I've been feeling may be from my cervix effacing (hopefully it's that and not really amniotic fluid!). In fact, I think I saw the mucous plug later in the day today, and I've had several non-painful contractions throughout the day. For now I'm monitoring fluid levels coming out and have been instructed to go to labor & delivery if I start soaking a pad in an hour (or having regular contractions of course).
In other news, my Mom, who is here staying with us now, has ruptured a disk in her back (either from cleaning our pool or sleeping on our futon) :( She's on pain meds and is feeling better, but still can't do much. We're hoping she doesn't have to go home early, but these injuries can take months to heal!
