Lawrence went to work yesterday on clearing out the baby's room and by the end of the day, it was done! Now I can really start to envision what it might look like with everything in it. Our friend Trever came by to pick up the spare bed (he's going to keep it for us for an indefinite amount of time) and the rest of the stuff went to the garage or office. Trever also mentioned his interior designer friend Kimberly might want to help me pick out paint and potentially help paint faux clouds on the ceiling/wall. I haven't fully decided if I want clouds, but it would be nice to have her help either way.
On Saturday we went to our first "And Baby Makes Three" class. We both thought the material was pretty good, but the instructor was not very well prepared. She was having issues with the laptop and projector so the class didn't start until 30 minutes late, and then she skipped around a lot and didn't seem to have her speaking points ready for most of the sections. We're hoping she improves next weekend after reading the comments from the survey we took at the end of the first class. The material was sort of marriage-counseling-like with a few sections on communicating and playing with your baby. There were communication exercises we had to do like practice asking each other open-ended questions and telling each other what we appreciate and like about each other. We're already pretty good at those things, but it was nice to have focused time to practice and remind ourselves to continue doing it. I know it will get harder when the baby comes!

That's an interesting concept for a class. We didn't have anything like that offered to us at our hospital. A baby definitely puts a strain on a marriage in some ways but in other ways it brings you together as you share in the joys of a new baby. That's good that the room is cleared out - now the fun can begin!
